Room and timeline content lives in the relay's memory only. That state is gone when the process restarts, and there is no chat database behind it. Messages, photos, files and polls expire 60 seconds after they are sent. The relay sets the deadline and sweeps expired items every 50 ms, and the recipient's browser independently enforces expiry even if the relay stalls.
Discovery without a profile
You still get to find people, just not by building a reputation. Public channels hold 3, 9 or 99 seats. Secret rooms open with an invite link and key that expire after 30 minutes. Roulette mode pairs two strangers 1:1 with a truth-or-dare round. The public timeline lets a thought live 15 minutes, comments live 5, and 51 upvotes opens a live room from that post. Then it is gone.

Why the account is the whole problem
On Discord and Reddit, the account is not just a login. It is the unit of memory. Your posts attach to it, your reputation attaches to it, and every future reader can assemble the whole picture by clicking your name. The site operator and the hosting and CDN can still see connection metadata, and screenshots cannot be prevented. A compromised device, a browser extension or a modified site release can expose plaintext. The site is 18+, and accepting the terms is not age verification.
Anony Bean also gives up things Discord and Reddit do well: persistent communities, searchable archives, long-running friendships and deep moderation history. That is the trade. You lose the record so that the record cannot be used against you.
